The Good Samaritan Relief Fund

The Good Samaritan Fund has been set up an online with a giving link for Hurricane Irma Disaster Relief:
The link for Hurricane Harvey remains in effect. These will be accounted and dispersed separately. You may give online or by mailing a check to The ARP Center, 918 S. Pleasantburg Dr., Ste. 127, Greenville, SC 29607. If you have any questions, please contact the ARP Center 864-232-8297.
(To clarify a little about this fund, 100% of the funds collected will go to ARP Church needs if there are any major ones or 100% of the funds will go to an agency such as Samaritan’s Purse. There is an official Synod committee to make this decision. To date, over $20,000 has been donated to the fund.)

More Florida updates

Highland County was one of the hardest hit counties in Florida. This is the location of First Presbyterian Church Lake Placid. The church’s Genesis Center, which was built as a community outreach building, has been serving 1,000 meals daily.

Ray Cameron, pastor, said “God has been faithful and provided. Churches are coming together through this. We had worship Sunday and most were saying how thankful and blessed they are.”

Cameron went on to say how there was some damage to the Christian Ed Building and the Fellowship Hall roof but there wasn’t any water damage. They have had restaurants donating food that couldn’t last without power. The National Guard helped with shelter needs the first two nights. Their needs now are financial since most stores are opened back up.

Rev. Ed and Mary Anne Fleagle, retired minister, lost their roof due to a tornado. They live in Lake Placid as well. Mary Anne said, “We are stressed and in a war zone. The first tornado that came through took out our barn, the second took off our roof. We had to evacuate at 10pm.”

The Fleagle’s neighbors and church, Avon Park ARPC, helped with tarps so there isn’t water damage. Ed Fleagle traveled to South Carolina to purchase plywood and supplies so they could have a temporary roof.
